🐾 Beyond the Consult Room — How Dog Owners Navigate Confusion, Care & Daily Decisions

Woofya Pet Care Insights 2025 – Part 4: What Dog Owners Want — Digital, Reassuring, Personalised & Connected Support

From all conversations, four clear priorities emerged. Here’s an overview:

1. Desire for Digital Support

Across interviews, dog owners expressed strong interest in tools that simplify and personalise care. They want centralised access to health records, reminders for medication and home-care routines, and credible advice — without the overwhelm of online misinformation. Convenience, accuracy, and reassurance consistently emerged as core needs.

Bianca & Diego – Jessie

“Everything in one place… being able to see the records. So regardless of which place you’ve gone to, being able to receive all that information.”

Grace & Chris – Henry

“It would be more convenient as well just to have it all in one place… like a package.”

Tristan – George

“Just give you little alerts so you don’t forget about it.”

Lisa – Alba

“It would be very useful… if you could put in your vaccination dates and get reminders. So yeah, that would be useful.”

2. Trust, Continuity, and Relationship with Vets

Beyond convenience, owners seek stronger relational continuity with their vets — advice that feels personal, follow-ups that show genuine care, and long-term visibility into their pet’s health journey. The emotional value of trust is just as important as clinical excellence.

Grace & Chris – Henry

“If you got a platform like that… you can get a printout or you can email them something… instead of trying to describe it for 20 minutes in a room, you can straight away share that.”

Joseph – Tex

“I think staying connected with the vet would be very helpful always.”

Tristan – George

“It’s good to have like a connection instantly… like peace of mind, even if they’re like, ‘just come in a couple of days.”

3. Simple, Tailored, and Reassuring Experiences

Ultimately, dog owners seek ease — clear instructions, reduced cognitive load, and confidence that they’re “doing it right.” The opportunity lies in removing complexity through timely, personalised, and reassuring support that fits naturally into how people live and care for their pets every day.

Sid – Benji

“It doesn’t have to be luxurious, but… it should be like, okay, this is this guy’s name, he’s got a specific history… so give more of customised and personalised plans.”

Richard – Cavoodle

“If there’s like an app saying there’s this suggestion between them, I reckon that’s a really good idea… instead of me trying to figure around myself and mess it up.”

4. Community and Peer Learning

Many owners learn from other pet parents — through online communities, local parks, and word of mouth. They value real-life tips, product recommendations, and emotional reassurance from others who “get it.” Creating a trusted space for shared experiences could extend the sense of support and continuity of care beyond the clinic.

Sid – Benji

“You learn from other pet parents. Like when I come to you, I talk to you, I learn a few things.”

Kelly – Earl

“There’s not many big dogs around… when we come across big dogs, we always try and catch up… it’s really good to speak about their diets and skin conditions.”

Dawn – Blair & Lola

“Coming down here and talking to other dog owners… that’s how you get a lot of the information.”

Anonymous – Border Terrier Mix

“I read things about her breed… and sometimes it’d be really good if they advertised a place where people could look for dog sitting in their area.”

Connie – Zeus

“I had to get told about that dog park by someone… I never knew about it.”

What dog owners want is not unrealistic — it’s practical, personal, and rooted in feeling supported rather than overwhelmed. Their expectations offer clinics a powerful roadmap for building trust and improving adherence.

👉 In Part 5, we outline what these expectations mean for pet care professionals — and how the veterinary landscape is shifting around them.
